(NAAW) 2026

Join us in celebrating National AccessAbility Week (NAAW) — a time dedicated to recognizing the valuable contributions of individuals with disabilities and promoting a more accessible, inclusive society. This year’s events include a mix of virtual and in-person experiences focused on awareness, advocacy, and community connection.

Day 1 – Monday June 1, 2026
Opening Ceremony
(Hybrid)

Opening Ceremony (Morning: Virtual)

  • Welcome remarks and overview of NAAW goals and weekly activities

  • Premiere of the “Accessibility Matters” video

  • Person with Lived experience speech highlighting inclusion and accessibility


Connect Day (Afternoon: Hybrid)

  • Community Connection Wall (participants share reflections on connection and supporting others) – Digital and Physical

  • Focus Group Meeting

Day 2 – Tuesday, June 2, 2026
Youth Voice & Innovation Day
(Virtual)

Empowerment & Leadership:

  • Youth-led panel workshop: “What Adults Need to Know in 2026”

  • Intergenerational conversations- seniors and youth from the disability community share stories.

  • 60-Second “Hope Reels” competition -showcase.

Competition will be launched 2 weeks prior to NAAW week.

Day 3 – Wednesday, June 3, 2026
NAAW Summit & Red Shirt Day
(In-Person)

NAAW Leadership & Accessibility Summit:

  • Brings together leaders, service providers, disability organizations, and community leaders.

  • Keynote speakers from partner NAAW recipients /disability serving organizations.

  • Panel discussions and policy dialogue on accessibility, inclusion, and workforce participation.

  • Display the recording from “Connection Stories” QR Codes.

  • Announce the winners from the “Hope Reels” competition.

 

Booth setup from different organizations, service providers and employers.

Day 4 – Thursday, June 4, 2026
Skill-Building Workshop
(In-Person)

Special Skill-Building: Basic Sewing Skills Workshop

  • Hands-on learning: machine setup, basic stitching, hemming, and simple repairs

  • Sewing machines provided on-site

These activities promote life skills development, confidence-building, creativity, and potential pathways to micro-enterprise or employment

Day 5 – Friday, June 5, 2026
Recognition Day & Closing Ceremony
(In-person) 

Health and Wellness:

  • Gratitude Tree and peer appreciation handmade cards – craft and wellness activity.

  • Health and Wellness Clinic specifically for PWD community (Health Info booths, Hearing Clinics, Eye Clinic, Blood Pressure and BMI Stations etc.)

  • Fitness and reset sessions (breathing, yoga, stretching, grounding) by fitness instructors

  • Share the toolkit: “Build Your Coping Toolkit” stations for personalized self-care plans

  • Pop-up Support Hub (counsellors and resources)

  • “How to Ask for Help” workshops

  • Closing Ceremony.
