ABOUT US

Peel Career Assessment Services Inc. (PCAS Inc.) originated as a project of the Canadian Mental Health Association and has been in operation since 1967.  Over the years, the organization has evolved from a small community supported employment workshop to a full service vocational rehabilitation centre.  In 1977, PCAS Inc. was incorporated as a charitable non-profit organization.

PCAS Inc. was established to maintain, operate and conduct a centre for the vocational and social rehabilitation, education and assessment of individuals who are emotionally and/or physically disabled or socio-economically disadvantaged, and by reason thereof, are experiencing chronic unemployment.

PCAS Inc. is located at 975 Meyerside Drive on the north west corner of Tomken Road and Meyerside in Mississauga. There are bus stops located at this corner for both Mississauga Transit and Brampton Transit.  Our facility is fully accessible to all participants - we provide wheelchair accessible washrooms, a wheelchair ramp, and electronic door opening equipment.  Our building is safe and meets all provincial fire and building code requirements for public safety and with over 25,000 square feet and plenty of parking, we have ample space to provide services for our community and surrounding areas.

PCAS Inc. co-operates with other organizations in stimulating understanding and in helping to make public opinion favourable to the reform and advancement of the education and training of individuals who are emotionally or physically disabled.  We do this by providing members of our communities with the opportunity to learn about the workplace and develop appropriate skills, work-traits, and work tolerances to effectively participate in competitive employment.  PCAS Inc., is able to offer an environmentally controlled work experience on-site for participants by providing packaging and assembly services to local businesses.

PCAS Inc.'s professional staff encompasses a consulting registered psychologist and individuals with university degrees in social work, psychology, rehabilitation services, kinesiology, nursing and/or education combined with years of experience in vocational counselling and evaluation.

PCAS Inc. is governed by a Board of Directors who are responsible for policy.  The Executive Director is responsible for the daily operations of the organization.  Administration and production staff complement the professional staff in carrying out the objectives of the agency.
